+Indicator Methodology
The Overall Percentile Vulnerability Rank is calculated using the Social Vulnerability Index (SVI), which incorporates data from the American Community Survey (ACS) (https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html ) provided by the U.S. Census Bureau. This index assesses vulnerability across every Census tract by analyzing 15 social factors grouped into four thematic areas: socioeconomic vulnerability, household composition and disability, minority status and language, and housing and transportation. Each Census tract is ranked within these themes based on its relative standing to others, using percentile scores derived from the ACS 5-year estimates data. The overall rank for each tract is then determined by averaging the percentile ranks across these four themes.
